Art Basel 2017 Recap by Shawn Outen

I had a great time, overall, for my first Art Basel. Although the other gallery we partnered with had some internal issues. So many of the artist didn’t get to connect with everyone like they wanted. I think with it becoming more popular, the structure of some galleries are adjusting to just getting into the art world.

Our pop up at Big Drop in South Beach was a success! Many people came out over the course of the day. The DJ was amazing, the drinks were going, and the vibes were flowing. We eventually sold out of the first drop and got so much awesome feed back, that Big Drop wanted to further our collaboration.

I want to thank Simone King and the Big Drop team. I also want to thank the people who traveled so far just to come check out my artwork, you’ll forever be appreciated! Happy Holidays!

Art On The Avenue Pop Up by Shawn Outen

Art On The Avenue is a multi-cultural art festival celebrating our community’s diversity through the arts in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia. In collaboration with our sponsor Waxing The City Alexandria, I had the opportunity to host a pop up. People from all over had the opportunity to view my latest paintings, have great conversations about art, while being able to purchase apparel, prints, small statues, and more. Thank you Art On The Avenue and Waxing The City!

Art on the Avenue was such a fun filled, family experience. The weather was great but the people were amazing. I appreciate all who supported and purchased my artwork and huge thank you to Waxing The City Alexandria! S

See you next year!
